Healthcare in Eastern India, particularly
in states like Jharkhand and Bihar, has long struggled with an acute shortage
of doctors and a lack of infrastructure. The doctor-to-patient ratio in the
region falls well below global standards, and students aspiring to become
doctors often face an uphill battle due to limited local institutions. Many
either leave the state to pursue their dreams or give them up entirely.
At the same time, the general public
continues to suffer from the lack of accessible, quality medical care.
Specialized treatments are often far away, unaffordable, or unavailable
altogether. Recognizing these deep-rooted challenges, the Gautam Group has set
out to make a difference with a bold initiative: the launch of a medical college
and an 800-bed super specialty hospital in Ranchi. This project aims to boost
healthcare access, provide local career opportunities, and train a new
generation of skilled medical professionals.
The Gautam Medical College and Hospital is
more than just a construction project it's a transformative journey. Situated
at Shantidoot Infra Services Ltd., Plot No. 44, Ranchi Smart City, Dhurwa,
Ranchi – 834004, this landmark institution was officially inaugurated on 27th July
2024 by the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, symbolizing a turning point for
the region.
The roots of this initiative go back
decades. Since the early 1990s, the Gautam Group has been a name associated
with community service. The journey began in 1991 with the creation of
"Shantidoot," a mission-driven organization committed to education
and public health for underserved communities. Over time, their work has
expanded into rural Bihar and Jharkhand, focusing on skill development, child
welfare, women’s empowerment, and now cutting-edge healthcare and education.
The college is designed to accept 150 MBBS students per year and is supported by an 800-bed super specialty hospital. Built to meet global standards, the institution is positioned to be both an academic center and a life-saving medical facility. It represents the culmination of the group’s decades-long service and reflects its dedication to both education and healthcare excellence.

Gautam Medical College and Hospital is a
true blend of modern design and functionality. The campus features a fully
operational, multi-specialty hospital with over 500 beds, giving students
real-time clinical exposure as they learn from experienced doctors.
Academic facilities include smart
classrooms equipped with digital learning tools, ensuring even the most complex
topics are accessible and engaging. The college hosts specialized labs for
Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and more all outfitted with the latest
instruments for hands-on experience.
A central library stocked with reference
books, research materials, and digital access to journals supports academic
success. Hostel accommodations are hygienic, secure, and comfortable, creating
a home-like environment for students. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled,
supporting both academic and personal needs.

The establishment of GMCH in Ranchi is
